Safar 2017 – When is Safar 2017 and 2018

Ṣafar (Arabic: صَفَر)  is the second month of the Islamic calendar. The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, so  Safar moves from year to year when compared with the Gregorian calendar, which is solar based. The word “Safar” means “whistling of the wind”. Usually the Islamic months were named according to weather conditions at the time.

Dates and Weekday when Muharram starts and ends for the year 2017 and 2018

1. Safar Dates for 2017 (Hijri 1439)

  • Safar in 2017 will start on Saturday, 21st of October 2017 and will last till Sunday, the 19th of November 2017

2. Safar Dates for 2018 (1440 Hijri)

  • Safar in 2018 will start on Tuesday, 10th of October 2018 and will last till Wedsneday, the 8th of November 2018

3. Safar Dates for 2019 (1441 Hijri)

  • Safar in 2019 will start on Saturday, the 30st of Septembger and last until Saturday, the 28th of October
